Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Online counselling provides the same support and confidentiality as face-to-face therapy, but through digital means such as video calls, emails, or chat. It enables you to receive therapy in the comfort of your own home, ensuring convenience and accessibility. Once you book a session, you’ll receive a link to a secure video platform where we’ll conduct our sessions, just as if we were in the same room.

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to counselling. It’s a chance for you to ask any questions you might have and for me to explain how I work. We’ll discuss confidentiality, the frequency of sessions, and set some initial goals for our work together. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not comfortable with; it’s all about building a safe and supportive relationship.

Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance. I use secure, encrypted video conferencing software designed for healthcare professionals, ensuring that our sessions are private. Additionally, I adhere to strict confidentiality policies in line with professional ethical standards, ensuring that what you share in therapy stays between us, except in very rare circumstances as required by law.

Yes, online counselling allows me to support clients not just in the UK but internationally. It’s important to check the time difference between our locations to schedule sessions conveniently. Also, ensure you have a private space and a reliable internet connection for our sessions. Do note, however, that my practice adheres to UK laws and ethical guidelines.

The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Initially, weekly sessions are recommended to maintain momentum and foster the therapeutic relationship. However, this can be adjusted based on your progress and preference. We’ll regularly review our work together to ensure the therapy is meeting your needs and adjust the frequency of sessions as required.
